Is a solar power home a mansion of the future? In many cases, these energy efficient homes are actually selling for more than properties much more “luxurious” at first glance. This is because solar power is a lasting investment that pays you every year you own your home.
If you have every watched popular shows like “Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous” or “Cribs,” then you probably have a vision in your head that appears when you hear the word “mansion.” Your idea probably has at least one pool, a hot tub, about twenty rooms and a garage full of cars, and that does not even begin to address the amenities like the lighted tennis courts, basketball hoops, indoor bowling and custom sauna. However, in an ironic twist, these homes are being pushed to the side by a new kind of mansion: energy efficient homes.
Experts estimate that in the next ten years, a solar power home will be as attractive – if not more so – as a home that otherwise might appear far superior on paper. This is because of the incredible financial advantages of solar power and the growing “value” that people find in their perception of themselves as living a “green” lifestyle. While solar energy has been around for decades, it has only been in the past five or ten years that it has received much attention in the public eye. However, with the demand for alternative energy growing daily as the global economy begins to shake and show just how dependent we all are on a very small amount of limited resources, solar power has become a vital and growing business. Now, you can purchase ready-to-install solar power panels that can be mounted on the roof of your house, or you can employ a professional to energy “proof” your entire home. Many people are acting fast to ramp up their own energy independence before the end of the year not only in response to international politics but also because the tax incentives and the major rebates that are available to people who install solar power panels in their homes are making the demand for this product so high that many solar power panel manufacturers predict that they will be unable to meet the demand for the panels as early as 2009.
Even better, solar powered houses sell like mansions, because the new owners known that they will move into a home that gets “free” power. The attraction of moving into a situation that frees up literally hundreds of dollars a month out of your budget without requiring any changes in lifestyle (other than up, of course) makes solar powered properties a best seller in any market. If you have been putting off exploring your options in alternative energy, then you do not have any more time to spare. Once all the states implement their rebate options and these are added to the hundreds of thousands of dollars put up by independent environmental groups to try to encourage people to install solar power, you may no longer be able to even find solar panels for sale. Instead of looking for a new home that makes you feel like you live in a mansion, make your own home into a truly luxury abode – and change your budget so that you feel like you are really living the high life – do not delay having your own solar power home any longer.
